Hello Jolene,

I just looked in on the site to see what was up in town. i did some antiquing in Arlington a few years ago and met some very nice folks. My grandfather, who also had my name owned some wodland along the St John's River around 1900 to 1910. My dad, also with my name was bornin 1905 in the house they owned at that time. I did not have time to check any lant titles when I was there but I suspect some government entity or a college may be on the site today. My grandparents had at least 4 children born in Arlington from 1903 - 1909. Names were Helen, James, Theodore Washington, and Paul. They subsequently moved to Roseburg Oregon for about a year and then to Boston, which was the place where my grandmother was born. They went on to have a total of 14 children and none of them ever had any idea at all as to the place where their father was born. he told people he was from Boston, portland Maine and even London England. Pretty shallow roots for such a large family, eh ?

My dad always loved Florida and looked at several places to work and live over a period of about 15 years. Nothing ever worked out so I ended up a Red Sox fan. I avoid Tampa but have a very good buddy in Palm Harbor. My wife and I like to poke around Cedar Key and the areas just to the south of there every 3 years or so. I guess that is the southern edge of "forgotton Florida."

If you have any ideas about the land Grandad owned, I'd like to hear form you. Sounds like you go back a ways (in family tree terms) so perhaps you have some family who may have done business with my family.

Hope to hear from y'all.

Jim A jr
